HARTFORD – Rep. Tina Courpas (R-149th) was sworn in Wednesday as the representative for the 149th District in the House of Representatives during a ceremony at the state’s Capitol. Rep. Courpas, who enters her first term in office, was joined by her family, friends and supporters for the opening day of the 2025 Legislative Session.

She worked for over 20 years in investment banking and corporate law, beginning her career at Goldman, Sachs & Co. and worked most recently at Silver Point Capital, a hedge fund in Greenwich. She has spent six years running two non-profit organizations. Rep. Courpas served as the Executive Director of the Permanent Commission on the Status of Women in Connecticut, a bipartisan legislative non-profit with a 50-year legacy of advocating for Connecticut’s women.

“It is the honor of my professional life to be sworn in as a representative for the people of the 149th District. I appreciate the trust and faith our community has placed in me. I am committed to serving the District with integrity and delivering real results for our state,” said Rep. Courpas, who has already held district meetings in both Greenwich and Stamford open to all constituents. “I will work hard to ensure your voices are heard, especially on the issues that matter most to the 149th District, including lower taxes through fiscal discipline, local control of zoning, and educational excellence. I am ready to get to work.”

House Republican Leader Vincent Candelora appointed Rep. Courpas to serve on the Connecticut General Assembly’s Appropriations Committee, which has jurisdiction over all matters relating to appropriations and the state’s budget. Rep. Candelora also appointed her to serve on the Housing Committee, Education Committee, and as Ranking Member of the newly created Select Committee on Special Education.
