HARTFORD – Rep. Tina Courpas, R-149th, celebrated Greek Independence Day recently during ceremonies in Greenwich, Stamford and Hartford.
Greek Independence Day was observed on March 25th to honor the country where democracy was born and reclaimed in 1821.
Rep. Courpas is a Greek American and provided remarks at the Capitol for a ceremony attended by several members of the legislature who also share Greek ancestry.
“As Greeks, we have the awesome responsibility of carrying our Greek ideals – including democracy – for ourselves and the world. And as Americans, we have the privilege of doing it in the greatest democracy in history,” Rep. Courpas said in a Facebook post that recognized the events in Greenwich, Stamford and Hartford.
