HARTFORD – On Tuesday, November 28, the governor announced that he would no longer be asking the legislature’s Regulation Review Committee to consider far-reaching changes, requiring that the state ban the sale of gas-powered trucks and vehicles.

“This is welcomed news to most Connecticut residents and businesses. We heard from an elite ruling class that these mandates, despite being shelved and not acted upon during yesterday’s committee meeting, will be brought out again. Those who have talked to me are concerned that state government would take an alarmingly keen interest in dictating such an important part of everyone’s life. Determining your mode of transportation is no business of the government, you should always have the freedom to choose which vehicle best suits you and your needs,” said Rep. Jay Case.

The Lamont Administration attempted to push these regulatory changes at a time when most eyes aren’t concentrated in Hartford. It is expected he will ask his super majority in the legislature to make another run at implementing a law that would ban the sales of gas-powered vehicles. Case and his Republican colleagues remain opposed to any mandate requiring Connecticut residents purchase an electric vehicle.
