Forecasters are predicting single-digit temperatures and wind chills for the first time this winter, with the potential for snow accumulation this weekend. In response, the Governor has activated the state’s severe cold weather protocol.

Anyone who needs shelter or assistance should call the United Way 2-1-1 helpline. The United Way 2-1-1 website also provides local, state and federal information and resources including a list of warming centers and homeless drop-in centers.

Click here for a list of warming centers that are open throughout the state. If there is not a warming center listed in your town/city, please note that libraries, senior centers, and other public locations are good places to warm up or seek temporary shelter.

Cold weather also poses risks for your pets. Please don’t leave your pets outside for an extended period of time.
