WINCHESTER — As part of the biennium state budget, Winchester Public Schools will receive a $264,130 grant to fund its CHAMPS after-school program at Hinsdale and Pearson schools. After the governor’s office and state education administrators made the announcement Tuesday, State Rep. Jay Case, R-Winchester, said the following:

“Winchester’s schools have a great after-school program planned behind this funding, and I believe our district, our children, will be better served with the CHAMPS program. If our taxpayers want to see their hard-earned money fund more local initiatives, this is one example. This is a prime example of where we should be spending money – as opposed to other faulty line items and costly bonding in the state budget,” Rep. Case said.

Rep. Case is a member of the Appropriations, Energy & Technology, Environment and Human Services committees. He represents the 63rd Assembly District, which includes Colebrook, Goshen, Torrington and Winchester.
