Rep. Case: Malloy turns back on Connecticut’s most vulnerable

HARTFORD – Gov. Dannel P. Malloy released his two-year  budget today, leaving Connecticut’s most vulnerable population without essential services, according to State Rep. Jay Case (R-63), a longtime proponent of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Case blasted Malloy’s budget proposal that increases lofty transportation ideals while slashing services to social and developmental organizations and agencies. The governor is also increasing tax burdens on small businesses, reducing previously promised hospital reimbursement and eliminating key tax credits.

Case - Meet the Leaders - 021815 (10)web“The governor is turning his back on Connecticut’s most vulnerable population by cutting necessary social and developmental services,” Case said. “He could have focused on cutting unnecessary line items like publicly-funded campaign mailers and annoying television ads. Instead, Gov. Malloy has put intellectual and developmental disabilities on the chopping block to fund 30 years of road work and congested traffic.”

Case added: “Northwest Connecticut is being dealt a serious blow with Malloy’s proposal to close the Torrington DSS office. It’s unfortunate that the governor puts politics over people.”
