TORRINGTON – Joining a long list of distinguished community members and mental health advocates, State Rep. Jay Case and Susan Rea of Litchfield, were elected Tuesday evening to Prime Time House’s Board of Directors, the governing board for the Torrington-based nonprofit organization.

Rep. Case, a longtime advocate for people with mental illness, was asked to join the board because of his legislative and previous Board experience, along with his understanding of the mental health community. He will serve a three-year term, effective immediately.

“I’m honored to join the board,” said Rep. Case. “There are so many individuals on the board of directors, the advisory council and administration who I respect. They have a love for their communities and a heart for people with mental illness. I’m excited to work with them and assist in providing direction for our region’s number one clubhouse, and all the services it provides.”

Prime Time House Executive Director Lisa Lynch said, “Jay Case understands the value of services that give people with disabilities the same opportunities as other citizens. He has been a huge supporter of ours and regularly attends our events. I believe he has connections in the community that can help us to further our mission.”

The Prime Time House Board of Directors consists of 10 members and four officers. Rep. Case, a Winchester resident representing the towns of Goshen, Colebrook, Torrington and Winchester in the State Assembly, will join residents from a number of towns throughout northwestern Connecticut in achieving continued top-notch services for people with mental illness.

Prime Time House, Inc. began providing services in 1988, forming a “clubhouse” model that it still uses today. The Torrington campus, including its administrative offices, is located at 836 Main St. in Torrington, and serves all the rural communities in the Litchfield Hills.
