TORRINGTON – Commissioner Miriam E. Delphin-Rittmon, Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS), recently toured Torrington’s Prime Time House in order to learn more about the vocational and psychosocial services the facility officers to residents of Litchfield County. As a leading community health provider it’s important for those living in the northwest corner to know what resources are available to them said State Representative Jay Case, who serves as a Prime Time House Board Member and represents Torrington, Colebrook, Goshen and Winchester.

“The board, staff and members of Prime Time House were grateful that the Commissioner was able to make time to visit with us. It demonstrates the importance she places on hearing directly from the people who utilize DMHAS services about what is working and what isn’t,” said Lisa Lynch, Executive Director of Prime Time House. “We look forward to working with her on educating the community about mental wellness and recovery.”

Prime Time House was established in 1988 as the result of two grants, one to provide vocational services and another to provide psychosocial services to adults suffering from mental illness. However, the facility has vastly grown in the last decade expanding its services to include psychosocial rehabilitation, evidence based supported employment programs, and supported housing.

“Prime Time House is a special place. It was wonderful to see the friendship, support, and family atmosphere created by members and staff of this clubhouse,” said Commissioner Delphin-Rittmon. “We look forward to continuing to support the programs and activities offered at Prime Time House which align with the DMHAS mission to support recovery, wellness and community integration.”

“Connecting clients to mental health services is extremely important, especially in rural areas,” explained Rep. Jay Case (R-63). “Resources are not perceived as readily available up here in the northwest corner, but we have many facilities administering community services and Prime Time House is a great example of that.”
