Rep. Case achieves 100 percent voting record for 2013

HARTFORD – State Rep. Jay Case, R-63, has achieved a 100 percent voting record for the 2013 legislative session in the Connecticut General Assembly, never missing a vote during his inaugural term representing the towns of Colebrook, Goshen, Torrington and Winchester.
“As legislators, we had many tough decisions to make and a number of controversial bills to vote on,” Rep. Case said Wednesday. “From gun control to mental health, public safety and education, along with how the state spends its money, there were plenty of important issues facing the House and Senate. I’m honored to have been a voice for the people of Colebrook, Goshen, Torrington and Winchester on every one of these votes, and I hope they understand they have a loud voice in the General Assembly.”
A perfect voting record is difficult to achieve. About 27 percent of legislators throughout the state House and Senate achieve perfect attendance.
The 2013 legislative session consisted of 424 votes, with Rep. Case, a member of the Appropriations, Energy & Technology, Environment and Human Services committees, pressing the green “Yea” or red “Nay” button at his desk in the historic House chambers on every single one. The House Clerks Office announced the data on members’ votes this week.
This year’s session convened in January and culminated on June 5 at midnight. The 2014 legislative session, which is the second year of Rep. Case’s first term, will begin in February.
