WINSTED – State Department of Education Commissioner Dianna Wentzell will hold a special meeting here Jul. 28 to provide information and answer questions about the receivership process that will see the state manage Winchester Public Schools, state Rep. Jay Case said today.
The meeting Tuesday starts at 7 p.m. inside The Gilbert School auditorium. Wentzell will be accompanied by Department of Education staffers.
The General Assembly in late June approved legislation requiring the Department of Education to appoint a person, or “receiver,” to run the community’s school district. Since then, Case has worked closely with Wentzell and her staff to arrange a local forum where residents can learn more about the state’s new role in local schools.
Case, serving his second two-year term in the legislature, encourages residents to come to the meeting with their questions and concerns.
In the meantime, anyone with questions can contact Case at 800-842-1423 or jay.case@housegop.ct.gov.
