HARTFORD – The House was in session on Wednesday, April 17, and Thursday, April 18. To review all of the legislation that was considered please click on the corresponding date and you will be provided with the House Journal.
One of the most important pieces of legislation that was acted upon this week was H.B. 5413, crafted to address dangerous “street takeovers.” This legislation does not represent a complete remedy to Connecticut’s crime issues, but it was a good step in the right direction to ensure Connecticut motorists feel safe on our roadways. These takeovers place innocent drivers in jeopardy due to dangerous racing and street stunts that take place during them. I was proud to support this legislation, which was approved unanimously, to increase penalties associated with drivers that have taken part in these activities. It now heads to the Senate for its action.
