WINCHESTER – The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the start of construction for the replacement of Holabird Bridge on Holabird Avenue over the Still River in Winchester, beginning on September 19, 2016.

The project involves the removal of the existing superstructure and the installation of eight new weathering steel beams, a new concrete bridge deck (widened by 12 feet) and a widened substructure with scour countermeasures. This project also includes 325 feet of improvements to Holabird Avenue including the relocation of utilities and improvements to the drainage system.

DOT Project No. 0162-0145 was awarded to Schultz Corporation on July 20, 2016, at a cost of $2,918,974.39 and is scheduled to be complete in October 2018.
