Winsted – State Representative Jay Case (R-63) paid homage to the great Dr. Suess through his participation in Read Across America Day reading, “Oh, The Places You’ll Go” to the second graders of Hinsdale Elementary School.

Launched by the National Education (NEA) Association in 1998, Read Across America Day celebrates the birthday of Dr. Seuss, one of America’s greatest authors and illustrators.

“Reading is a central skill to virtually every profession, today is a day to recognize the importance of reading and how critical it is for young student’s to get into good reading habits,” stated Case in regard to his participation in today’s event, “Education is a core function of government, promoting reading is a small way I can perpetuate that role.”

According to the NEA, approximately 3.2 million teachers, librarians, athletes, celebrities, politicians, business professionals and everyday people will read to an estimated 45 million children over the course of 2016.
