Winsted — State Representative Jay Case (R-63) joined about 50 volunteers at The Mary P. Hinsdale Elementary school Saturday morning in an effort to remove overgrown brush and small trees that were beginning to overtake the school’s façade and perimeter.

“Getting out here bright and early and joining up with a big group of volunteers is truly what smaller communities of the Northwest Corner are all about,” said Rep. Case. “Accomplishing our common goal and getting this brush cleared out will go a long way in making Hinsdale safer for all the students, parents and faculty that walk the school grounds.”

Case was also joined by recently appointed receiver of Winsted Schools, Robert Travaglini, and principal, Debra Grainsky.

“Community support is everything to a school and today we proved exactly that—-the Winchester community cares deeply about its schools,” said Travaglini. “They are willing to go above and beyond for students, parents, and staff.  I am proud and extremely excited to be a part of this wonderful community.”
