SHELTON, CT — State Representative Christie Carpino, a member of the legislature’s Public Health Committee, recently toured Lincoln Tech’s Shelton campus to learn more about the school’s Practical Nursing (LPN) program and its role in training Connecticut’s next generation of healthcare professionals.

Rep. Carpino’s visit comes as state lawmakers continue working to address an ongoing shortage of nurses and healthcare workers across Connecticut. Through legislative efforts and collaboration with educational institutions, Carpino and her colleagues have supported initiatives to strengthen the healthcare workforce pipeline, expand training opportunities, and make nursing education more accessible.

“It's important to actually see how state institutions like Lincoln Tech are preparing today's students for careers in healthcare,” Rep. Carpino said. “Connecticut’s healthcare system depends on well-trained professionals, and programs like this one are helping to meet that need while giving residents the skills to build meaningful careers.”

During the visit, Rep. Carpino and other lawmakers met with campus administrators, faculty, and students to discuss how Lincoln Tech’s hands-on nursing program equips graduates with the knowledge and clinical experience required to meet the state’s growing healthcare demands.
