HARTFORD— House Republican Leader Lawrence Cafero elevated State Representative Vincent J. Candelora (R-86) of East Haven, North Branford and Wallingford, to the post of Deputy Republican Leader Wednesday, December 15th at the Capitol. Candelora’s appointment was unanimously ratified by the 51 member caucus. Last November, residents of the 86th district re-elected Candelora to his third term in the General Assembly and will serve on five committees including Finance, Revenue and Bonding; Planning and Development; Legislative Management; Executive Nominations; and Regulation Review Committees.
“Vin Candelora brings a wealth of knowledge, talent and enthusiasm to the position of Deputy Leader. I am going to rely heavily on him for his judgment and support in helping to shape our caucus policies and positions and decision-making during House sessions,’’ said House Republican Leader Lawrence Cafero (R-Norwalk).
As a small business owner, Candelora is an outspoken pro-jobs member of the legislature and considered by many to be a leading voice in the General Assembly on issues concerning the state budget, small business, and state finances including state indebtedness. He is eager to begin work at a time when the state faces significant challenges—namely problems with balancing its books.
“We need to make meaningful changes in the way we govern and as a leader of my caucus, I’m ready to work with others to offer sound solutions once again. I look forward to working with Governor Malloy and his administration on the state budget,” said Candelora.
Candelora represents North Branford, East Haven and Wallingford in the General Assembly.
