State Representative and Deputy Minority Leader Vincent J. Candelora spoke at the Bristol Resource Recovery Facility Operating Committee (BRRFOC) legislative breakfast at the Capitol.
Bristol Resource Recovery Facility Operating Committee (BRRFOC) and it’s sister organization the Tunxis Recycling Operating Committee (TROC) is a quasi-public partnership serves a large region of Connecticut, including the Branford area, meeting solid waste, recycling and renewable energy needs. Through their Bristol waste-to-energy facility, each day 600 tons of solid waste is transformed into 16.3 megawatts of reneable energy. Since 1988, the facility has disposed of 3.5 million tons of solid waste and produced enough clean energy electricity to power between 10,000 and 15,000 homes.
