Rep. Candelora and fellow Republican lawmakers talk about job creation in Connecticut

Capewell Components Co. has enjoyed success during its rich history, but life for the manufacturing firm is growing more difficult, executives and employees said, because of an ever-growing list of mandates, regulations and taxes dished out by the state. Early today Republican lawmakers Vin Candelora, Selim Noujaim, and Bill Aman toured the Nutmeg Road operation, which is a recognized designer and manufacturer of specialized cargo handling equipment as well as parachute safety equipment. Kenneth MacCormac, president and chief executive officer, told the lawmakers he appreciates their strong business advocacy efforts and said it’s time for the legislature to get serious about job creation — and that means something more substantial than tax credits. Candelora, Noujaim, and Aman know the score: all three run businesses in Connecticut. The lawmakers shared their personal experiences of red tape headaches brought on by state mandates. Watch a video of the tour.
