Members of Guilford’s state legislative delegation announced today that the Department of Economic and Community Development’s Office of the Arts awarded grants to three arts and culture organizations in town. “It is wonderful news that Guilford was selected to receive this grant funding,” said Rep. Vincent Candelora.  “These resources will go a long way in supporting the organizations that provide our residents with opportunities to enjoy and participate in the arts.” “Our vibrant local arts community makes the shoreline a great place to live,” said Senator Ted Kennedy. “Organizations like the Shoreline Arts Alliance are tremendous assets to our community. These grants will them support artists, students and organizations in continuing to contribute to our wonderful cultural landscape. I want to thank Commissioner Smith and the Department of Economic and Community Development for this investment in our creative community.” “We are so fortunate to have a strong and growing arts and culture community here on the shoreline, and I’m very happy to see that the state has chosen to invest in these three great organizations who do so much each and every day to promote the arts and all art has to offer the citizens of Branford and Guilford,” said Representative Sean Scanlon. The grant programs for which funds were awarded include: Public Art Community Project Grants (which provide funding up to $20,000 for public art projects); Arts & Community Impact Project Grants (which provide funding up to $20,000 for projects that connect the intrinsic value of the arts to identifiable community needs, interests or opportunities); and Supporting Arts in Place Grants (which provide general operating support to eligible arts organizations and municipal art departments). Guilford recipients included the following:
Guilford Chestnut Hill Concerts Supporting Arts in Place $3,503.00
Guilford Guilford Art Center, Inc. Supporting Arts in Place $13,652.00
Guilford Shoreline Arts Alliance Designated Regional Service Organization $29,733.00
Guilford Shoreline Arts Alliance Regional Initiative Grants $35,000.00
