State Reps. Vincent Candelora (R-86) and Noreen Kokoruda (R-101) and State Sen. Len Fasano hosted a Town Hall legislative update on Tuesday, June 25th  at Durham Town Hall. Constituents met with legislators from 6-8 p.m. to discuss the legislative session which came to a close on June 5th and to address local issues with their legislators. Of great concern to many constituents were the budget and the possibility of implementing tolls. Other topics discussed included forced immunization, state-run pensions, union contracts, marijuana and education. “I really appreciate these opportunities to have one-on-one conversations with my constituents,” said Rep. Kokoruda. “Sharing our opinions in this type of open forum helps me to more effectively be a voice for the towns I represent at the Capitol in Hartford. I agree with my constituents that ultimately we need to focus on government efficiencies and do our best to have bipartisan cooperation in order to make good decisions to accomplish what is best for our state and the people in it.” “I know that I speak for all of the legislators here when I say that we get a lot of phone calls and emails, especially during the legislative session. We do our best to make sure we always get back to our constituents, but there’s nothing like face-to-face, one-on-one personal interaction with the people we represent. I’ve always tried to hold these types of meetings to hear from people firsthand,” said Rep. Candelora.  “I am grateful to everyone who came out to discuss how legislation that passed this session will impact our communities.” “It is an honor to represent the voices of my constituents in Hartford. That’s why events like this are so important. Thank you to everyone who came out to speak with us, share their ideas, and raise their opinions,” said Sen. Fasano. Constituents were pleased to have the opportunity to speak frankly with their legislators, who in turn were very appreciative of the feedback and thanked the group for sharing their thoughts. Anyone who was unable to attend the event may contact their legislators with questions by contacting Reps. Candelora and Kokoruda at 800-842-1423 or Sen. Fasano at 860-240-0022.
