Springtime is nearly here, and with it comes the need to "spring forward" and set your clock an hour forward for Daylight Saving Time. Daylight Saving starts at: 2:00 A.M. on Sunday, March 8th, 2015 Your clock should be moved forward an hour at that time. Daylight Saving was first introduced in Europe during World War I, but was proposed as early as 1784 by Benjamin Franklin who said that starting the day an hour earlier in the summer would save candles. This is also a good time to change the batteries in any fire and smoke alarms in your home, and to get in the habit of changing the batteries every time you have to move the clock forward or backward. Please don't forget to move your clock forward Sunday, and I wish you the best as spring approaches. As always, if you have questions or concerns about state government, please do not hesitate to contact me at your convenience at: 1-800-842-1423 or vin.candelora@housegop.ct.gov.
