On Wednesday June 4th, State Rep. Vincent Candelora (R- 86) in conjunction with AT&T and the North Branford Scholarship Association held a senior awards program for the class of 2014 at 7 p.m., in the North Branford High School Auditorium.
During the ceremony AT&T awarded a $10,000.00 contribution to support scholarships for graduating high school seniors from North Branford, who are pursuing an advanced education. This contribution organized by Rep. Candelora will fund scholarships for North Branford senior during the next few years.
“I am honored to have been able to facilitate this grant for such a great scholarship program that I benefited from as a graduate from North Branford” said Candelora.
“For 51 years North Branford's businesses, organizations and individuals have supported its scholarship association. It is with great pleasure that we have AT&T believe in and support our efforts. With AT&T's support we will be able to continue supporting our students for years to come,” said Lars Selander, Scholarship Association President.
The contribution was the result of AT&Ts commitment to investing in a well-educated workforce. Through AT&Ts Aspire initiative, the company has committed to investing $350 million in education nationwide. Currently, about one in five students does not graduate high school with their peers. AT&T Aspire is driven to help students succeed — in school, in the workforce and in life.
