Hartford- State Representative Vincent Candelora (R- Durham, Guilford, North Branford, Wallingford), was present and voting for all roll call votes taken in the state House of Representatives during the 2013 legislative session, according to information provided by the House Clerk’s Office.
“My job is to represent my constituents in Hartford and I take that job very seriously,” said Candelora who is the Deputy House Republican Leader. “If I’m not voting on legislation then the people I represent are not being heard on issues that affect them and others throughout the state of Connecticut.”
Candelora said he is proud of his perfect voting record but also thinks it is very important to stay in open and constant communication with his constituents so he understands their concerns and opinions on any given topic. He also spends a great deal of time researching the topics he votes on and speaking with his colleagues in the legislature about their opinions.
“It’s not just important to be present to vote but perhaps more important is to participate in debate and discussion on the issues. The range of issues we make decisions on is so vast that it is impossible to be an expert on everything. But I’ve found that if you work hard, do your research and speak with constituents frequently, then you can be informed when you cast your vote.”
Candelora is one of just 41 out of the 151 members of the House of Representatives to achieve a perfect voting record this session.
