HARTFORD—House Republican Leader Vincent Candelora earned 100 percent on the 2021 Legislative Scorecard issued by the Connecticut Business and Industry Association (CBIA.) CBIA, the state's largest business advocacy organization, tracks legislation that could have either a negative or positive impact on our state's economy and scores legislators according to how they voted. "Considering the far-reaching impact the COVID-19 pandemic has had on our local, regional and state economies, there's no task more important for the legislature than doing everything possible to position our state for a rebound," said Candelora, who represents the 86th District serving residents of North Branford, Guilford, Durham and Wallingford. The scores received by Candelora and his capitol colleagues were based on how they voted on nine different bills, including the new highway truck tax Candelora opposed and changes to the unemployment compensation system he supported that will reduce costs for businesses. Last year, CBIA launched its Rebuilding Connecticut informational campaign to promote its recommendations designed to help businesses deal with the costs of creating and retaining jobs, navigate COVID-19, and position employers for recovery after the pandemic.
