State Representatives Vincent Candelora (R-86) applauded the state’s Small Town Economic Assistance Program (STEAP) grant for North Branford announced. Administered by the Office of Policy and Management (OPM), STEAP provides financial assistance for projects to improve and preserve the character of the state’s less populated towns.
The town of North Branford was awarded a $290,000 Small Town Economic Assistance Program (STEAP) grant from the state of Connecticut for the renovation of five existing tennis courts and two basketball courts at the North Branford Intermediate School and High School campus. The proposed all-weather, multi-purpose courts are an essential part to the success of the High School’s Tennis Team and offer increased opportunity for community members to engage and stay active.
“These courts are heavily used by the schools, club sports and residents,” Rep. Vincent Candelora (R- 86) said. “I’m pleased to have advocated for this grant because without it, it would be difficult for our town to make necessary repairs during this tough economic time. I commend the Town Council’s efforts on obtaining this grant.”
North Branford is one of many eligible STEAP towns to receive a STEAP grant award for the purposes of funding a variety of economic development, community conservation and quality-of-life projects.
