    Durham – The Durham Legislative Delegation and Durham First Selectwoman are hosting a forum for families of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The event will take place on Thursday, August 25, 2016 from 6:00pm-7:30pm at the Durham Town Hall third floor meeting room located at 30 Town House Road. The forum, hosted by Representative Noreen Kokoruda (R-101), Representative Vin Candelora (R-86),Senator Ted Kennedy Jr. (D-12), Senator Len Fasano (R-34) and Durham First Selectwoman Laura L. Francis, will feature panelists including state agency representatives, service providers, and advocacy groups. IDD4 Flyer Update new The discussion and presentation will cover questions and concerns regarding issues faced by individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. Topics of discussion will include new legislation to better help families communicate with DDS, what happens when individuals turn 21 and ‘age-out’ of state provided services, and what services and supports are available in Connecticut. The discussion will include panelists from the following organizations and agencies:
    • Connecticut Department of Developmental Services
    • Connecticut Department of Social Services
    • State Representative Jay Case, co-chair I/DD Caucus
    • The Arc Connecticut, non-profit advocacy group
    • CT DDS Families First, non-profit advocacy group
    • Oak Hill, service provider
    • Vista Life Innovations, service provider
    • SARAH, Inc., service provider
