NEWTOWN — To pay tribute to the Flag Day holiday, State Reps. Mitch Bolinsky (R-106) and Martin Foncello (R-107), in cooperation with Newtown VFW Post #308 and Scout Troop #270, are helping Newtown residents dispose of their worn American flags in a dignified and respectful way.

The U.S. Flag Code specifies that old American flags no longer in service must be properly disposed, and the lawmakers are offering this service free of charge, in conjunction with VFW Post #308.

On Saturday June 8th from 8:30am-10:30am, the legislators along with Newtown Scout Troop #270 will be doing an in-person collection at CH Booth Library, 25 Main Street.

The Newtown state legislative delegation will have five separate drop-off locations. The drive will take place May 30 through June 8, just a little shy of Flag Day on June 14.

    Drop off locations are:

 CH Booth Library, 25 Main Street, Newtown
 Newtown Community Center, 8 Simpson St, Newtown
 Edmond Town Hall Lobby, 45 Main St, Newtown
 Brookfield Town Hall, 100 Pocono Rd, Brookfield
 Brookfield Library, 182 Whisconier Rd, Brookfield

Residents may also drop flags off at the VFW Post # 308 on Tinkerfield Road. Flags can be dropped off there in any condition throughout the year.
