Co-Pay for Program Goes Up on September 1

NEWTOWN – State Representative Mitch Bolinsky (R-106) is alerting constituents to take advantage now on a great opportunity to have a comprehensive home energy audit before the program’s cost goes up on September 1, 2016.

Participants in the Home Solutions program offered by Energize CT are visited by utility-certified technicians who provide them with an energy performance evaluation and give suggestions for how to make their homes more energy efficient.  They will test for drafts, air leaks and inefficiencies in lighting and appliances.  When found, their professional contractors seal and install insulation products at no added cost to the homeowner.  They inspect the home’s lighting, recommend and install hundreds of dollars of energy efficient lighting products to brighten the home and noticeably cut its electric bills.  In the end, they’ll leave the homeowner with a written assessment and coupons to save on other ways to make their home more energy efficient and more economic to operate.

Rep. Bolinsky said, “I hope to see my constituents take advantage of this program at its current, bargain basement price.  It will save them a lot of money for many years to come.  Personally, my family has used this great service in our own home.  If you’re wondering, ‘what’s the catch?’  well, there is none. We’ve all been contributing to this program through our electric bills, pennies at a time, for years.  There will be no sales pitch…it’s all good.  The reason I’m pushing this now is to save folks as much money as possible by scheduling their Home Energy Solutions visit before the Septmber1, 2016 co-pay increase from $99 to $124.”

Energize CT is a collaboration of the state, the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund, the Connecticut Green Bank, and local electric gas and energy providers that works to help Connecticut residents, businesses, and towns makes good choices about energy usage.
