To better educate himself on Connecticut’s waste and recycling efforts, State Rep. Mitch Bolinsky (R-106) toured the All Waste, Inc. Solid Waste and Recycling facility in Hartford on Friday. One of the largest privately owned companies in Connecticut, the All Waste facility processes over 51,000 tons of material each year including commercial mixed paper, cardboard (OCC), phone books, sawdust, and even tires and metal.

The tour helped Rep. Bolinsky and his colleagues on the Environment Committee better understand the process that would be used to recycle roof singles into road paving materials. That type of recycling is currently being proposed in new legislation that would allow the Department of Transportation to use old asphalt shingles for paving (HB 6023).
