NEWTOWN – On Thursday, October 31, State Reps. Mitch Bolinsky (R-106) and J.P. Sredzinski (R-112), along with State Sen. Tony Hwang (R-28), will be hosting an informational forum regarding new taxes, fees, and policies that may haunt (a Halloween play on words) Connecticut businesses and residents. The legislators will cover such topics as the recent minimum wage hike, the state’s new family leave program, and changes to the pass-through business entity tax.

Many of these policies, which were enacted in the state budget, without Republican input, place new mandates on businesses to collect additional sales and payroll taxes or implement additional, mandated employee training. The forum is intended to give attendees the opportunity to ask the legislators questions and to receive clarity about these new policies.

The event will take place from 7:30 – 8:30am in the Council Chambers at the Newtown Municipal Center (3 Primrose St.). All businesses and residents in the Newtown area are welcome and encouraged to attend.

The organizers request that those interested in attending the forum RSVP via Facebook: bit.ly/newtownbizforum.

If you are interested but are unable to attend, or if you would like more information, please contact the Representatives at 800-842-1423 or the Senator at 800-842-1421.
