Newtown Delegation invites residents to make their voices heard

NEWTOWN—In an effort to fully involve Newtown residents in the legislative process, State Reps. DebraLee Hovey (R-112), Dan Carter (R-2) and Mitch Bolinsky (R-106) are inviting folks to participate in a series of upcoming public hearings on issues related to the tragic Sandy Hook shooting — including one hearing at Newtown High School.
At the hearings, which will be conducted by members of the bipartisan Task Force on Gun Violence Prevention and Children’s Safety, the public will have an opportunity to weigh in on topics relating to each of the three newly formed subcommittees on school safety, gun control and mental health,.

The purpose of the group is to conduct a review of current law and make recommendations on a range of potential legislation to prevent gun violence, enhance school security and ensure proper mental health services in Connecticut. The Task Force will provide recommendations for a bipartisan emergency certified bill in March.
