    Free State Parks this Weekend

To encourage everyone to visit a state park in this centennial year of Connecticut’s State Parks System, Connecticut is waiving fees at all state parks this Saturday and Sunday (July 26 & 27, 2014). This means that there will be no parking or admission fees at any state parks and museums.

“Free State Parks Weekend” is part of the state’s celebration of the centennial of Connecticut’s State Park System. The State Parks Commission made its first purchase of land in December 1914, when it closed on five acres in Westport for what would later become Sherwood Island State Park.

With this weekend’s added incentive, we expect many new patrons to visit a park and experience first-hand the beauty and outdoor recreation opportunities they offer so close to home.
I hope this has been helpful.

    Best,
