On Tuesday, May 2, 2017, we observed the Nation of Israel’s Independence at the Capitol in Hartford. It was humbling to be joined by Consul General Yehuda Yaakov, who serves as Consul General of Israel to Connecticut and the entirety of New England. The Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and fellow legislators also attended the observance. Israel officially gained its independence on May 14, 1948, which was declared by past Prime Minister, David Ben-Gurion
