The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the temporary closure of Rt. 816 (Glen Road) for rehabilitation of the Silver Bridge over the Housatonic River in Newtown and Southbury.
Work will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, April 18 to April 25, 2016.

The rehabilitation project will consist of replacing the concrete deck, structural steel repairs to the truss and floor beams and a complete repainting of the bridge.
Areas of Rt. 816 surrounding the bridge will be closed, but local access will be maintained at all times.
The detour route will take all traffic to I-84, Exit 10 and Exit 13, and signs will be in place to guide motorists.
