HARTFORD – The Connecticut General Assembly’s Legislative Internship Program is officially accepting applications. It’s a wonderful program designed to allow interns to engage in the state’s governmental processes, which means working directly with State Representatives and Senators, attending meetings and public hearings, as well as assisting with other administrative tasks.

All undergraduate students enrolled and matriculated in an accredited undergraduate degree program at a two- or four-year institution of higher education in the state can apply for the internship. Those already holding a Bachelor’s Degree are not eligible for program participation.

Connecticut residents attending out-of-state colleges are eligible to apply, but should contact us directly prior to application to the program.

    Minimum program qualifications include:

    • be 18 years of age or older by January program start
    • have competed 20 credits by January program start (no more than 3 AP credits can be counted towards this minimum)
    • possess a minimum 2.7 grade point average (at time of application)
    • be registered for a course (varies by institution) in order to receive credit for the internship
