DANBURY – State Representative Mitch Bolinsky participated in the 2017 Walk to End Alzheimer’s event on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at Western Connecticut State University’s campus. To date, the event has garnered over $85,000 in donations that will be used to fund Alzheimer’s research. Bolinsky participated with Almost Home, Danbury, one of 80-Teams, and was the number 5 fundraiser for this year’s event. He also became a member of the Champion’s Club, through the generosity of his donors.

“I, along with many friends and colleagues, have personal experience with Alzheimer’s Disease. It is an ugly, unprejudiced, sickness that continues to baffle the medical community. However, by raising awareness and encouraging donations we can fund more research toward ending Alzheimer’s once and for all. Seeing our way to celebrating Alzheimer’s very first survivor can only be achieved through a collaborative effort of individuals, Teams, clinicians, and community leaders,” explained Rep. Bolinsky.

Bolinsky continually advocates for Alzheimer’s awareness and research. In April, he spoke at the Alzheimer’s Association Legislative Action Day to educate his fellow legislative colleagues on the importance of the Respite Care Program and the benefits of the State Department of Aging.

“Caregivers need resources, as well as those battling Alzheimer’s. It truly becomes a team effort of family and friends when caring for an Alzheimer’s patient. That is exactly why, even in light of tight fiscal times, that we must maintain funding for the entities that provide these services,” concluded Bolinsky.

According to the Alzheimer’s Association of Connecticut, six additional walks will be held at regional locations throughout the state. Donations will be accepted for all walk events until the end of the calendar year. Bolinsky’s donation page can be reached at: http://act.alz.org/goto/MitchBolinsky.
