HARTFORD – The 2017 Legislative Session has officially convened, Opening Day ceremonies took place Wednesday morning as State Representative Mitch Bolinksy (R-106) was officially sworn into his third term. The General Assembly will continue session for a five-month period.

“It is an honor to serve the residents of Newtown and Sandy Hook, I will continue to bring your voice to Hartford over the next two years,” said Rep. Bolinsky. “It is a priority to reverse the poor economic trends, which have been compounded by poor budgeting policies that have been voted for by the Majority Party for far too long in Hartford. I am eager to encourage the legislature to explore options that will close the ever growing deficit and create the necessary financial stability for our businesses and towns.”

Rep. Bolinsky has been appointed by House Republican leadership to be an Assistant Republican Leader, an integral role within the caucus. He will also retain his previous committee assignments, continuing his service on the General Assembly’s Aging, Appropriations, and Education Committees.

The General Assembly will adjourn the 2017 Legislative Session on Wednesday, June 7th.
