Bolinsky Supports Fire/EMS Caucus Initiatives

HARTFORD – State Representative Mitch Bolinsky (R-Newtown) stood proudly in support of the full-time and volunteer fire personnel who are responsible for protecting the residents of Connecticut at a press conference held at the State Capitol on Wednesday, April 11, 2018, hosted by the Fire and EMS caucus. According to Bolinsky, there are over 21,000 volunteer fire men and women throughout the state. All of Newtown is protected by volunteer fire organizations including, Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company Inc., Hawleyville Fire Company, Botsford Fire Rescue, Newtown Hook and Ladder, and Dodgingtown Fire Company.

“I am a founding member of the legislature’s Fire and EMS caucus. I continually advocate for our first responders so that they have the resources needed to respond to emergencies, which is clearly a core function of state government. I stand proudly with the women and men who keep our local communities safe by responding and performing their trained duties exquisitely in our community. The dangers associated with performing such duties should not be overlooked and costs required to keep our firefighters healthy must be considered as we continue to craft a sustainable state budget,” said Bolinsky.

The legislature’s Fire and EMS caucus was co-founded earlier this year. It is a nonpartisan body that will produce legislative recommendations concerning policy initiatives for first-responders to the entire legislature.
