NEWTOWN – State Representative Mitch Bolinsky (R-Newtown) will be hosting three separate Legislative Listening Sessions over the coming weeks. All of these sessions will be held at the C.H. Booth Library’s Meeting Room from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. The listening sessions are free and all Newtown residents are encouraged to attend.

The specific dates and details of each session are listed below:

    • Monday, December 10, 2018, 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the C.H. Booth Library Meeting Room

    • Wednesday, December 19, 2018, 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the C.H. Booth Library Meeting Room

    • Monday, January 07, 2019, 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the C.H. Booth Library Meeting Room

“The legislative process begins now for the upcoming 2019 Legislative Session in Hartford. It is important that I have the opportunity to hear from all of you regarding any ideas or concerns you may have about our state budget and the overall actions of the state legislature,” explained Rep. Bolinsky. “There is clearly a lot of work to be done to strengthen our state’s fiscal sustainability and restore affordability for families and businesses that call Connecticut ‘home’. I’m looking forward to working with Governor-elect Lamont and leadership on both sides of the aisle to retain and grow our population by attracting employers to invest in our state and our workforce, creating a diverse, new generation of well-compensated career opportunities so families can prosper here in Newtown and across the state.

At the same time, I remain resolute in my opposition to increasing taxes and initiating tolls without dollar-for-dollar offsets for working-class families. Making Connecticut less affordable will impede our accomplishing the sustained economic recovery we need. If the new administration comes out of the box with new taxes and tolls, I will resist. It’s my belief that our best path forward is a road to structural reform, attacking waste and controlling spending; not more tax revenue to feed excessive layers of an already too bureaucratic state government or the special interests with which it has become associated.”

Bolinsky regularly hosts office hours and legislative updates to keep Newtown residents informed. However, his door is always open and if you are unable to attend any of the three Legislative Listening Sessions listed above, you can reach him by calling 860-240-8700 or e-mailing Mitch.Bolinsky@housegop.ct.gov.
