Bolinsky: Rally for An Affordable Connecticut in Newtown

Bolinsky: Rally for An Affordable Connecticut in Newtown

NEWTOWN- State Rep. Mitch Bolinsky (R-106) along with State Senator Tony Hwang (R-28) is inviting Newtown residents to join them as they host a Rally for An Affordable Connecticut in Newtown on Saturday, June 18, 2022 from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM Blue Colony Diner, 66 Churchill Road.

An economic report released today revealed that consumer prices in May went up 8.6%, a new 40-year high. Core prices that take out food and energy also soared to over 6%. This indicates inflation is accelerating.

Last week, House and Senate Republicans called for a special session to adopt nearly $750 million in additional relief for Connecticut residents, including tax cuts and energy assistance to ease the burden on working- and middle- class residents.

“Connecticut is unaffordable and growing more unaffordable by the day. As inflation surges, I, along with my colleagues are fighting for additional relief. As prices rise, so do your gross taxes paid on necessities like energy, food, goods & services. At the same time, many CT state agencies have yet to return to pre-pandemic service levels.  As consumers and as taxpayers, we’re stuck paying more for less,” said Rep. Bolinsky. “Please Join us on June 18th in demanding a special session for tax relief for Newtown families.”
