Bolinsky: Newtown Flag Collection for Flag Day, June 14th

NEWTOWN- State Representatives Mitch Bolinsky (R-106), Dan Carter (R-2) and DebraLee Hovey (R-112), in cooperation with Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Newtown Post #308, are encouraging all Newtown residents to retire their worn and tattered American Flags.
The legislative flag collection began on May 27th and ends on June 10th.

Edmond Town Hall
45 Main Street, Newtown
Newtown Municipal Center
3 Primrose Street, Newtown
The Newtown VFW will also be accepting flags which may be deposited at the “red-white-blue” mailbox at the bottom of the steps in front of the VFW.
On Saturday, June 14 at noon, the VFW and Newtown Scouts will retire these flags with honor and solemnity according to National Guidelines.
If you have any flags which are no longer serviceable, please drop them off prior to June 14. If you or you group would like to participate in some way, please email the VFW for further details at vfwpost308newtown@gmail.com
According to U.S. Flag Code, when an American flag is so tattered that can no longer serve as a symbol of the United States it should be destroyed in a dignified manner, preferably by burning.
The Newtown VFW is located at Freedom Defenders Way (formerly 18 Tinkerfield Road) corner of Wasserman Way and South Main Street, across the street from Walgreens. Newtown VFW Open to the daily from 10am – 9pm.
