Bolinsky: New July 1st State Laws

It’s July 1st and that means several new laws are now in effect.
Some of the recently passed laws include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Changes to DUI convictions, including mandatory ignition interlock devices
- New laws regarding bicycle safety
- New assistance for students with dyslexia
- Manufacturers or businesses can no longer require product registration for an initial warranty
- Five colleges and state universities will have to establish an “open-source text book” system to help lower potential students’ costs
- New rules for in-school suspension or expulsion for students in kindergarten to second grade, except in certain circumstances
- Banning the purchase, possession and sale of powdered alcohol
