Bolinsky: New Emergency Room at Danbury Hospital

Danbury Hospital is set to officially open the doors to its new 40,000 square foot Emergency Department (ED) on Hospital Avenue in Danbury (Danbury Hospital Campus Map) on Wednesday, September 10, 2014.

Patients and visitors will access the new ED via the Hospital Avenue entrance to the Duracell Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASU) driveway adjacent to the Broadview School field. Enter the ASU driveway and pass the entrance to the Rizzo Garage. The new ED entrance is immediately on your right. Parking is in the adjacent lot and Rizzo Garage.

The new ED at Danbury Hospital will better serve the growing needs of our community while fulfilling its mission to improve the health and well-being of our residents.

The New Emergency Department at Danbury Hospital will
increase capacity will handle up to double the capacity from its former location.

Major upgrades include:

A new, streamlined triage area for less urgent care
Innovative systems for quickly assessing patient needs
Special express care area for less acute patients
State-of-the-art technology
Dedicated imaging center so patients can be diagnosed and treated more rapidly
Separate area for pediatric services to serve the needs of children and young adults
Direct-access heliport to expand the Hospital’s capacities as a Level II Trauma Center.
