Bolinsky Meets With Newtown Girl Scouts

HARTFORD- On Wednesday, State Rep. Mitch Bolinsky (R-106) welcomed a group of Newtown Girl Scouts to the State Capitol in honor of the General Assembly’s annual Girl Scout Day celebration.
The Newtown Scouts joined over 150 Girl Scouts from across the state who visited Hartford to learn about state government and discuss key issues impacting girls statewide. In the House of Representatives Bolinsky met with the girl scouts to discuss his role as a State Representative.
Bolinsky said, “It was great to be visited by the Scouts and Leaders of Newtown Troops 50134, 50174 & 50595 at the Capitol. I’m so glad we were able to spend time in the House of Representatives Chambers during a working session, when they could see our state government in action. The young ladies made such a positive impression on everyone they met today with their poise, curiosity and thoughtful questions. They represented Newtown wonderfully and I thoroughly enjoyed the time we spent together. Girl Scouting is such a positive way to develop strong, independent young women, like these Newtown Middle School students. I am grateful for the visit…and, of course, for the Tagalongs. Yum!”
The day’s events included a tour of the State Capitol, and a meeting with Lieutenant Governor Nancy Wyman.
The Girl Scouts organization began on March 12th, 1912 in Savannah, Georgia. The organization has since become a household name across America and has helped countless young girls build the three C’s: courage, confidence and character. Today there are 3.2 million girl scouts in America.
