Bolinsky Holds Chat with Newtown Seniors

NEWTOWN- State Rep. Mitch Bolinsky (R-106) was invited by the Newtown Senior Center Director of Senior Services Marilyn R. Place to provide a legislative update on the issues near and dear to Newtown seniors and, at a Monday lunchtime event, Newtown’s resident representative joined dozens of energized seniors and guests to review the 2013 legislative session.
“It was great to be so considerately welcomed by this important and often under-represented part of our community,” said Bolinsky. “Our seniors have needs that are, in many ways, under-served today and, especially since many of us will someday share many of these same concerns, I think it’s appropriate to tune in to their message and consider how we can align services with our state’s changing demographics.
“As their primary State Representative; it was a great opportunity to hear their thoughts about the State of our State,” said Bolinsky. “Many residents are worried about our state economy especially those on fixed incomes
Issues discussed during the almost hour and a half talk ranged from the state’s role in implementing the Affordable Care Act, high state gas taxes, items that used to be untaxed, like services and clothing to government spending priorities and their thoughts about giving state drivers’ licenses to illegal aliens.
