HARTFORD- In his newly appointed role as head House Republican on the legislature’s Aging Committee, State Rep. Mitch Bolinsky (R-106) wanted to alert Newtown residents of the committee’s first public hearing.

The Aging Committee will be holding the public hearing on Thursday, February 5th at 10:00 A.M. in Room 1B of the Legislative Office Building in Hartford.

The committee will be hearing testimony on proposed legislation focusing on the state’s Medicaid program; laws to prevent elder abuse; nursing home residents; grandparents raising grandchildren; elderly nutrition; property tax assistance; long-term care insurance.

Bolinsky said, ”The public hearing is a great example of our democracy at work.  I encourage everyone to check out the Aging Committee bills we’ll be discussing on Thursday and join us at the Legislative Office Building to comment on matters of interest to you.  Comments can take the form of support for a bill, opposition to it or, can be your recommendations to make it stronger or better targeted.  It also helps to submit written testimony for the permanent record, whether you can make it to Hartford or not. Testifying is easy. Check out our Citizen’s Guide at: http://www.cga.ct.gov/asp/Content/YourVoice.asp  for the lowdown.  I’d love to see you there!”

Below are a list of bills to be heard at the public hearing:
