The Department of Transportation (DOT) is into stage 3b of replacing and upgrading the Sugar Street (Rt. 302) bridge between the Pleasance and Ram Pasture. To help traffic flow as smoothly as possible, a temporary detour to divert traffic around the construction zone will be implemented.

The project will begin this Thursday, May 17, 2018. According to the DOT, the project is scheduled to be completed by Tuesday, October 9, 2018.

    Traffic Patterns:

According to the DOT, traffic on Elm Drive, near Sugar Street, will be restricted to one direction, southbound. There will be NO northbound access to Route 302 (Sugar Street). There will be signage indicating the northbound detour route onto Hawley Road to Route 25 (Main Street). This is a very smart detour, as it will eliminate vehicles turning left and right from Elm onto Route 302, a very congested area that is already tough to navigate safely.
