    2019 Legislative Session Begins

We opened the 2019 Legislative Session today with promises of open doors and re-inventing Connecticut. Our new Governor is not a political insider and is saying encouraging things about putting us back on a family-friendly, business-friendly footing. I take him at his word and look forward to the details we’ll see in the next few weeks, beginning with his budget proposal.

I am honored to announce I have been appointed by House Republican Leader Themis Klarides to my second-term as Assistant House Leader! Additionally, I am very pleased to continue my service on the budget-writing Appropriations Committee, the Education Committee and the Select Committee on Aging.

It’s an honor to be entrusted with a leadership position and to mentor less experienced legislators, among other responsibilities but, as most of you know, I work for Newtown and will be fighting for you, my constituents and the taxpayers of this great state.

We have important work ahead of us. With large deficits looming, it will take great discipline and partnerships with colleagues from both sides of the aisle to hopefully forge collaborative solutions.
