Dear Friends and Neighbors,

Vaccine distribution has been well under way in Connecticut since late December with roughly 160,000 doses administered to date. Distribution started with Phase 1a which included healthcare workers, first responders and long-term care facility residents. With the start of Phase 1b scheduled for January 18th, more members of the general public will become eligible to receive the vaccine.

    Phase 1b Vaccine Distribution

Distribution for Phase 1b will begin with individuals 75 and older and will ultimately include individuals 65 and over, those ages 64-16 with certain pre-existing conditions, frontline essential workers, and individuals in congregate settings.

    Details on congregate settings:

Congregate settings include individuals and staff in halfway homes, inpatient mental health facilities, corrections facilities, homeless shelters, domestic violence shelters, substance use and residential treatment facilities along with others. More information about congregate settings will be available soon. Vaccination programs for congregate settings will be coordinated by State and local health.

Good principles lead to good gun policy

The June Drummer ran an opinion piece by Michael Fitzgerald questioning my legislative agenda, specifically HB 5717. Fitzgerald cited the Sandy Hook tragedy that led to Connecticut’s restrictive gun laws, and the recent Granby budget that funds a School Resource Officer (SRO). Of course, that a human being reached such a mental state that he murdered 20 […]
