HARTFORD – State Representative Mark Anderson, a dedicated member of the Connecticut House of Representatives, continues to champion causes that matter most to the community. Recently, he had the honor of participating in the Profound Autism Day event at the Connecticut State Capitol, where lawmakers and advocates came together to recognize the challenges faced by individuals with Profound Autism.

    Highlighting a Critical Issue

During this important event, the Lieutenant Governor issued a proclamation in recognition of Profound Autism Day, an initiative that aims to raise awareness about the most severe form of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This condition affects approximately 26% of individuals diagnosed with autism, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Rep. Anderson was invited to attend by Beth Lambert, a passionate advocate from Barkhamsted, who has worked tirelessly to bring attention to the needs of individuals affected by Profound Autism. The event was not only a day of reflection but also a call to action to ensure that proper funding and support programs are available to families in Connecticut.

A Bipartisan Effort for a Shared Cause

One of the most encouraging aspects of this day at the Capitol was the bipartisan support that filled the room. Rep. Anderson emphasized that the issue at hand isn’t about politics; it’s about people. Regardless of political affiliation, everyone present shared a common goal: to ensure that individuals with Profound Autism and their families have access to the resources, care, and support they need.

Rep. Anderson’s dedication to supporting people with disabilities and their families is a reflection of his commitment to serving his constituents with compassion and integrity. By advocating for critical programs and services, he is helping to create a future where no one is left behind.

    Moving Forward

Rep. Anderson is committed to continuing this important work by collaborating with fellow lawmakers, health professionals, and community advocates. As the event demonstrated, when we come together, we can make a lasting impact on the lives of those who need it most.

Good principles lead to good gun policy

The June Drummer ran an opinion piece by Michael Fitzgerald questioning my legislative agenda, specifically HB 5717. Fitzgerald cited the Sandy Hook tragedy that led to Connecticut’s restrictive gun laws, and the recent Granby budget that funds a School Resource Officer (SRO). Of course, that a human being reached such a mental state that he murdered 20 […]
